Merry Christmas

Well this week has been quite a rush with all that's going on down in deep south Texas at the Loring house....Our son has had his skin grafts and is home from the hospital doing very good...I talked to him today and he sounded very up beat which is great...He was looking forward to his daughter and grand kids coming over for Christmas Eve...I know that he was excited and looking forward to it....Also my brother in law got home from the hospital and doing very well also, so things are looking up in the health department for the family...

I managed to play pool a few days this week of course and took Marilyn to Wal-mart early in the week, cause it's been very crowded for the last few days...We tried to go to HEB this morning after we went out for breakfast...We drove into the parking lot, couldn't find a parking place and drove right out....We then stopped at Dollar General and picked up the couple of items that we needed with out any trouble....

Last night Marilyn and I went over to Magnolia Park to visit with old friends...Of course I played pool and Marilyn played cards with her girl friends...We got to talk and say HI to many of our old friends and wish them Merry Christmas...And now I want to wish all that read my blog "MERRY CHRISTMAS and A HAPPY NEW YEAR"...

Did you think I had forgot????

I know I haven't posted anything but I have had a few things on my mind that I didn't want to just put down so please forgive me....Our son has been in the hospital for the last few days with some burns on one of his legs and having problems with infection and swelling...When the swelling and the infection goes down he is going to have some skin grafts done...Also my brother in law in Florida is also in the hospital with high fever and internal infection but now improving and should be released in the next day or so....Also the pool season has started it has kind of kept me busy also....Don't forget that I also have to take Marilyn to Wal-Mart every so often to make everyone happy...Well it's a great life if we just don't let it get us down....Just keep smiling there's a lot more good than bad......

Any Turkey Left???

Here it is a week after "Turkey Day" and I am wondering if there is any turkeys left on this earth....It seems that every one that I talk to had turkey for Thanksgiving with some left overs for the next few days or so....I know that we did also and it sure was good...I also know that I must have gained a few pounds for sure and that's something this old fat boy doesn't need at all....Well with no more turkeys at least the temptation is not there...HA HA..

Well at least the pool league has started for me on Wednesday mornings...I like to play pool but am not to excited to get up early in the morning and go play somewhere...I guess that's just the dues one has to pay for the privilege of being able to play...

The weather has been kind of cool for the last few days so it's a welcome relief from the hot weather...It doesn't seem that it should be as late in the year as it is...Time has a way of just slipping away so fast , the next thing you know it will be Christmas and the first of the year...Well it has been a great year anyway and we are so blessed to be as healthy as we are cause we don't have to go far to find someone a lot worse off than we are...

Week in review

I know that I won't remember all and some of if you wouldn't want to know anyway...HA HA..We was able to get out and eat a couple of times...Marilyn calls these times "when Don cooks"....At least she doesn't have to then...Often I just go and get something from where ever and bring it home...She kind of likes that also and gives her a break for sure....Of course we managed to hit Wal-mart a couple of times also...We did have some excitement Saturday afternoon....I had went to Subway for a sandwich to bring home and when I got home I left the car unlocked because Marilyn said she wanted to clean out the back seat as we were going to have a rider after church for breakfast...A little later I was on the computer doing some surfing of the web and I had earphones on to be able to hear music...I do this often so I don't get interference from the TV in the next room...All of a sudden Marilyn came in an said come quick...I went outside and there were three Sheriff deputies around the back of our car with there guns out...I said what's all this about and one motioned to stay back...I seems that there was a young man in the back seat and they were trying to get him out....Finally they managed to get him out and handcuffed him and then put him in a squad car...They searched him and picked up some stuff he dropped in the back seat while he was there...They found a knife and several pills of different kinds we were told...They said he was high on drugs of some sort...They said that they had looked through the back of the car but we should be sure and clean and vacuum every thing after they left...Marilyn did find one small white pill and we threw it in the trash can...Later another deputy came and interviewed us again as he said he had just come on duty and hadn't read the report yet...We told him about the little white pill and what we had done with it and if he wanted it...He said no as long as we had disposed of it...Well it's a long story and I'm glad it's all over....Just remember to keep the car locked....A lesson to learn for anyone.....

Update

Sunday again and I need to catch up a little....I had a bit of bad luck this week as one of my hearing aids quit on me and I had to take it to the hearing aid doctor....Of course it had to be the one I need the most so I have had to say "what did you say " more the last few days than I have for a long time...Not much fun for me but kind of funny for other people to be able to tease me about it once in a while...Oh well this too will pass...Today we went to service at Magnolia this morning and we had just a little different service with Pastor Stacey being gone to see his dad and celebrate his birthday with him...We had a good time though as several people got up and did several readings and sang songs for the congregation... This evening we went up to the main hall where they had a welcome back party for all the folks that have come for the season...There was a large crowd there with lots of goodies to eat and much talking and catching up with gossip from the summer..I am going to try and write more often as it's kind of hard to remember when I don't put it down....So we'll see just how I do....It's all good anyway if you don't stumble....Think about it..

Time to catch up again

I can't believe that the time goes so fast...I really haven't done any thing that is exciting other than the usual stuff so I won't bore you with that ....I did go in this week and had my eyes checked for some new glasses...I have been having a little trouble with my eyes, nothing serious, but hope this will make things better when the new glasses come in....Isn't that exciting....I have been messing around with my VCR and DVD players and dubbing some tapes to DVDs ( at least trying to learn all over again as it has been a long time)...I have had fun and got to see some tapes that we had forgotten we even had....Some of the pictures were from many years ago when the kids were small and our folks were still alive...Many memory's were brought back...Today we went to church at Magnolia and enjoyed a great service as usual...We sure enjoy the teachings that Pastor Stacey brings to us...Well that's some of whats been going on ...I really will try to do better in the future...I know I have said that before but ??????????

Another Week gone By

This week has been quite an experience for me and quite varied to say the least....It all started off great with the usual Wal-mart tours and pool playing and then Wednesday night I came down with something...I never felt real bad but I didn't feel to chipper either...I stayed pretty close to the bathroom for a couple of days...On the second day I felt a lot better but didn't do any thing just to be sure...I tried to be a good boy and stay away from every one as much as possible...When I did feel better the boys ask me to go bird hunting so I went and enjoyed the fresh air just to get away....I kind of set off to my self for the first time just to be sure and give them some space in case I would maybe give them something but I felt great for an old fat boy again...We didn't get a lot of birds but it was nice to go and enjoy the out doors while I can...The first season of bird hunting was over today (Sunday) and we didn't go , but we have thoughts of maybe trying to get out the second season some time the latter part of December...The only thing is it probably will be cold then and I am kind of chicken when it gets too cold anymore..HA HA...OH well it's all good anyway...

Update

This week we have again been kind of busy...I am sure glad that I don't have to go to work each day as I wouldn't have time for it...Entirely too much going on for some one to have a job to go to...HA HA...Last Monday I went to the business meeting for the park in the morning and played pool in the afternoon at another park.....Tuesday morning we went for breakfast with several people from the park and played pool in the afternoon here at the park...Wednesday afternoon we went to listen Diego up at the big hall and we sure enjoyed it...Thursday afternoon we went out with several from the park to eat at Golden Corral...It sure seems like we always have some place to go eat...At least that way Marilyn doesn't have to cook as much....She kind of likes that once in a while and it gives her a break, so all's good....Friday morning of course we must do the Wal-mart tour and pool again up at the hall in the park....This morning of course we went to church at Magnolia where we really enjoyed the service...We got to see several people that came in over the last week and catch up on the news....We then went to breakfast at Sivell's with a group from the two parks and on to Wal-mart for some items that were needed....Oh how exciting our lives have become...It some times makes you think we are in a rut, but isn't it great that we can have fun and enjoy ourselves doing it...Life's good...NO Life's great.....

Sunday Again???

I can't hardly believe that it's Sunday already...This week has just flown by...I would think that we have been busy and I guess we have in a way....We have had several friends come in from up NORTH and have spent some time with them...In addition to playing POOL several days and going to Wal-mart and doing some work around house (the weather has been just great) the time just goes by...I did go to one of my Doctors last Wednesday for a check up and he did some tests and informed me that I was cancer free as it had been 5 years since my surgery and radiation treatments and nothing has shown up in test....I am still quite excited about that report so just please forgive me for being late in blogging...This is the same Doctor that told me" I will see you in 6 months and stay away from Doctors in the mean time"....Well he gave me the same prescription again so it must work...

Oh I meant to write that I was able to go bird hunting for a couple of times this week also...On the first time wasn't so good as we went to a new place and it was none to good..Not many birds, just got a few...But on the second time we went to another new place and did a lot better, didn't limit out but could have if we didn't miss so many...HA HA...Oh well that's part of the fun..I guess when it is all summed up I was kind of busy all week....I love it...Life's good for this old fat boy...

Update

Today was a great day as the weather was nice, a little humid but the temperature was not bad...Of course the day started out with Church Service over at Magnolia Park with the so far small group , but that will soon change as the season goes on...Afterwards we went to breakfast at Sevilla's in Weslaco where we met Jim and Margret Vargason...We almost have a standing appointment for every Sunday morning...Not too bad a deal as we have to have breakfast some where and this way Marilyn doesn't have to cook...What a deal...HUH...Afterwards we dropped in at Don-West flea market to see if many vendors where in...I got to see several that I know and to say HI....Of course we had to also go to WAl-mart for the usual pick up of various items needed....It seems like we never remember to get everything at one time...That means we have to go back another time to make up the rest of the stuff....It makes for an interesting time any way and you get to see and talk to people along the way...

Last Thursday I went and have shots in both my knees as I have had swelling and soreness for some time...I put it off as long as I could but thought it was time...They are a lot better now..It is really nice that the medicine now is at times a magical worker for sickness and pain....

Music Day

This afternoon I went up and listened to Diego up at the hall for a while...The crowd is slowly growing as the Northern people come in...There seems to be one or two or more every day now coming in....Most of them we don't even know yet but that will come in time I hope...It is kind of hard over here at Siesta in one way as there is so many more people, and I always have a hard time remembering names...It just takes me longer and they keep adding more before I even catch on to the ones that are here....At least I do know most of the pool players imagine that...Marilyn is getting kind of lined up for some card playing in the future so that's good...I sure need to get some more of my work done, cause later I won't have time for sure....The weather is sure good now and this is the time to strike before the real busy season....Oh who am I kidding, what gets done will get done and that's it...

Nice Weather Again

The weather has turned from hot to real nice and it's a welcome change for sure...I have been trying to do some outside work done in the last few days, so have been kind of busy(at least for me)...The siding needs to be washed and the dust to be gone...I just do a section at a time and then stop...All this is hard work for an old fat boy....HA HA...Between going to Wal-mart, playing pool, and going out to eat once in a while the time just flies by...I got a good break Sunday when we went to church over at Magnolia...We sure enjoy attending the service and the fellowship there...I think we will always feel that we are still part of the Magnolia family...

Today I just did some running around for some parts that were needed to fix the power washer and pricing some paint for a couple of projects...This afternoon we went up to the hall for pot luck supper, and Marilyn and I both ate too much...There was too much sweets to be had as usual so they are hard to resist...Oh well life's so good if you just keep smiling...

Still here and OK

I am sure glad that the weather man said tonight that it was going to dry up and not rain for the next several days....We are having a invasion of mosquitoes and nats...If the puddles and wet spots dry up that will help...Also they said that when it drys up some the will start spraying and that will help a lot....I know that I am ready to go out hunting again and where we go has been too wet to travel in or around...Well at least I have pool every other day or so and Marilyn has Wal-mart...Of course we have been able to go out and visit a couple of eating places so it's not all bad for sure....

This morning we went to Church over at Magnolia and my old bud Don Howard and Barbara were there...It was sure nice to see and talk to them again...He said that he may come over to Siesta on Tuesday afternoon to visit during afternoon pool...I am going to try an spend a little time with him before they go back up to Indiana and the cold...

One thing I need to mention when I had the new awning put on the front of the Texas room and had a cement drive pored under it I have at least been able to park the golf cart in the dry for a change...It sure makes it nice to have a dry cart and dry place to charge the batteries...I need to get a picture of it to put on the blog in the next few days (during some sunshine) ...Keep smiling...

Update

Well it's been a couple of days so I'll try to update the blog a little....Last weekend was just busy enough but didn't seem to get any thing done...Marilyn had some things to do and didn't want me under foot so I went up to Snow to Sun park and played pool for a couple of hours Saturday afternoon...Big surprise about that I bet....Sunday morning we went to Magnolia Part for Church services and then to breakfast at Sevilla's with Jim and Margret Vargason....It was kind of crowded for a change but we found room....After breakfast we went to Big Lots for a little shopping...They have a few items we like to get there....Monday we went to pot luck at the park...We have had to kind of pick out times to go out as it showers to pouring just every once in a while...We don't need anymore rain for a few days but I guess we will take it when ever it comes...I have taken a couple of pictures of Marilyn's alligator pond and have put it on for all to see...She hasn't completely stocked it yet but the gators like it any way....I forgot to write down that we have been seeing a mother bobcat and her three kittens every day or so...They aren't tame for sure but they aren't afraid of us if we don't approach them....They are sure taking down the rabbit population in the surrounding area...I would think that when that happens they will move on to better hunting ground...They are fun to watch for sure....Later....

Where Does the Time Go???

It seems just like yesterday that I posted on the blog, but when I look at it and see that it has been several days it doesn't seem possible...Oh well to catch up we haven't done too much other than we have done mostly the same things we have all summer...I shoot pool every other day of so and take Marilyn to Wal-mart whenever she wants to go...What a life we lead...We could say that we are in a rut, but we sure enjoy it just the same...I have attended the business meeting for the park last Monday, attended pot luck up at the hall (also Monday)...We went to Golden Corral Thursday for late lunch with several people from the park and it was sure good...I forgot to write that I had a place redone here at the house for Marilyn's alligator pond...I'll try to get a picture of it in a day or so to put in here...Also we had a new awning put on one side in front of the Texas Room and new concrete drive poured under it to the road....I'll get a picture of that also later....Right now it is raining and has on and off for the last day or so...I guess we need it anyway...Nothing very hard, just a nice rain...Maybe it will cool the temperature down some ...Oh well life's good anyway.....

Great Weekend

Well the last few days have been great not just the weekend...I got to play pool both Thursday and Friday afternoon....I took Marilyn to Wal=mart on Friday morning so she was happy....Saturday afternoon I got to go bird hunting and got in some great shooting fun...I didn't hit every one but had fun at every shot...Sunday morning we went to Church Service at Magnolia (which was very good) then on to breakfast where we met Jim and Margret Vargason....We even made a side trip to Wal-mart for a couple of items that we had forgotten Friday....In the afternoon I got a call from my hunting buddy, so we were off again to the fields to pursue the fast fliers again....We managed to fill our limits again and were home by 6;30...That's two days we have done very well...I guess it will be awhile before we will be able to go again as my hunting buddy will go to his deer lease next weekend to check on things there...Oh well I don't blame him...That will give me time to round up some more shells for the next trip...HA HA So all in all it's been a good week, what more can you ask...

Still Here and OK

Just thought I would bring this up to speed...HA HA..Well we had a great meal on Labor Day and the hall...The food was good and so was the company...I know that everyone was full as they wanted to be and of course food was left over to take home....I know that everyone has heard of the Storm that came through the Valley...Most of the ones that have called wanted to know if we were either flooded out or had wind damage...Well for your information WE didn't have either here in Siesta Village....Just a little wind with no damage and only about 1 and 1/2 inches of rain that was needed...The grass was starting to get brown in spots...East of Harligen on to the coast they did get lots of rain 8 or 9 inches and some flooding in areas...Well it seems to be all past us now with just a few lingering showers with some hot dry weather in the forecast...Oh happy days...At least I have gotten to play pool the last couple of days for a couple of hours each...Marilyn has gotten to make her Wal-mart tour so every one is happy...Today we went up and listened to Diego at the hall...We sure enjoy listening to him play and sing....The crowd was a little smaller today for some reason, but that will soon change so more of the NORTHERN bunch comes in...A few of them have come in the last couple of days and getting set for the new season...Keep Smiling...

Sunday, September 5, 2010

Here it is Sunday already

My I don't see how the time gets away from us so easily...It seems like just yesterday that I wrote on the blog....We have been kind of busy(although we haven't done much really)....Jim Vargason has been in the hospital since last Monday night and I managed to get up and see him and have several calls to him to cheer him up...He got out Friday night and is home now so things will be better for him and settle down a little bit....Of course we had to go to Wal-mart a couple of times to see if they had moved any thing... HA HA..I kind of wanted to go bird hunting this weekend but the guys that I go with must have had other plans as I didn't hear from them...Oh well that's the way things go sometime....At least this morning Church started over at Magnolia Park again for the season...I am so glad of that as we sure missed going over the summer....It was a small group but sometimes that is good as you get to visit afterward and catch up on things from the summer...Tomorrow we are having a pot luck here at Siesta for the residents with Brock's and hamburgers...Every one brings a dish and shares with the group....I know that it will be fun...We are still learning peoples names and putting faces to the names....It will soon be a lot harder as more of the people come in from up NORTH for the season....Oh well it's all in fun anyway.....

Playing Catch Up

I was just thinking today that I should take some time and catch up on the blog as it has been quite a while since I wrote in it....Tonight when I checked the E-mail I get a note jogging me about not writing on the blog from a good friend (D.S.)....So I checked and it has been too long for sure...I don't know how the time goes so quickly...I guess because we have kind of been busy as our youngest son has been down and visiting us for a couple of weeks...He had a chance to come down and hitched a ride with our grandson that lives in Temple, Tx. when he went up to Iowa for a class reunion....He came back to Temple with him and we went up there and picked him up and brought him on down here....We have had a great time showing him around the area....

I know that once in a while he must have gotten bored being around a bunch of OLD people and some of the crazy things we do...He did enjoy the cement pond up at the hall and we got to play some pool of course...He had to go to WAL-MART with his mother and see some of the eating out places in the valley....Of course we had to go to the Island to walk the beach looking for shells and such, stop at one of our favorite fish houses and pig out on fish before we came home....So it has been fun....I think we were all tired when we took him to the plane to go home yesterday...He called and said he made it home safe and sound so we could relax at last...You never know any more with these planes and travel in general...

I did get a telephone call from Don Soole the other day saying that church was going to start over at Magnolia Park next Sunday morning so we are looking forward to that...I am just kind of also looking for or hoping for some cooler weather, but the time is coming just be patient and it will be here before you know it....I will try to do better from now on writing for the blog....

Friday, August 6, 2010

Here again

I can't believe that it's been a week since I wrote on the blog....Time just has a way of getting away from me especially it seems....We have been enjoying ourselves by little tours checking on the high water a couple of times, going to Wal-mart, trying different places to eat out, and Wednesday we enjoyed listening to Diego up at the hall here at Siesta...He comes about every two weeks and plays and sings for a couple of hours for all to enjoy dancing or just listening to...He still has quite a crowd even if it is summer yet...Of course I get to play pool every day or so some where so it's all good here, just kind of hot...The heat isn't as bad as the mosquitoes and nats....The little boogers just swarm on you every chance they can when you get out of the house or car...I hope they start spraying soon to kill them off...Well that about catches things up for now....Remember to just keep smiling and every thing will be OK....

Deep South Texas

Well when they say that Deep South Texas is a whole different country they mean it for sure...Usually this time of year we are dry, praying for rain and cool temperatures, but this year we have had several periods of rain... The Rio Grande River is running full and overflowing even filling the overflow waterways....The poor souls that built in the flood zones are flooded out and wondering "What happened?".....The temperature has been in the low 90's or high 80's everyday....I have been watching the up NORTH temps and they are seeming to be higher than down here ----At least for now....

At least the Loring life goes on with pool playing and trips to Wal-mart...Of course the several trips out to different places to eat out and just to enjoy living....How great is life when you and people around you are happy....Later...

Not Much New

Just thought I would write a note to let you know that I haven't forgotten that I need to put something on here or I will hear about it from someone or the other....At times I wonder if any one is reading this and then I don't put any thing on for a while and I get prodded to action...

Marilyn is still having some pain in her toes on her foot but it seems if she doesn't walk or stand on it for very long, it gets better so the trick is don't move around too much...Wal-mart is suffering and so is Marilyn as she is getting restless just staying home....I get a break by getting out and going to play pool but she is doing great by taking care of her foot and it is improving....We have gone out for some short trips to the stores so that has helped her....At least she can ride in the golf cart around the park OK and we can talk to any one we see...Tomorrow Diego will be in the park to sing and play for all to hear and dance to up at the big hall.....He comes every two weeks on a Wednesday afternoon from 3 to 5 pm for any one that wants to listen and or dance...He's a great entertainer and worth the effort to see...Well that's all that interesting for now...Later...

Quite a week in deep south Texas

Well I know that I haven't written anything for a week but you must forgive me as it seems something is going on every day that needs attention one way or the other....Of course last Sunday we went out for breakfast with Jim and Margret to our usual place, Sivilla's and afterward to Wal-mart of course....Monday morning I went to the usual park meeting to see what was going on in the park...In the afternoon we went to pot luck up at the hall with some of the residents of the park...When we got home, Marilyn managed to bump her little toe on her left foot quite badly...She has been hurting ever since and hobbling around...She doesn't believe that she broke the toe just bruised it pretty good...So Wal-mart has been getting a break from her this week...

We have been keeping an eye on the rising waters of the river, not that they will ever get to us, but several roads have been shut down in the area....1015 road just south of us has been shut down all week and is 6 to 8 feet deep in water in the low area....Many of the folks in the flood plain are either under water or about to be, so they need some prayers for sure...

Till next time.....

Wet Week for Deep South Texas

This week we have had nothing but rain on and off and going into the mosquito wrangling business, so it's been interesting to say the least...All you have to do is go outside to either get wet or bitten by a mosquito or both...What fun...At least we don't have to worry about being flooded out like so many of the people in the valley along the river and some of the low lying colonials...

I have been playing pool every day either here or at another park, taking Marilyn to HEB or Wal-Mart to get some exercise or shopping...Today we went to a new place for us to eat...Tex Mex was the name most folks use for the place and was the food good...We definitely will be going back in the future...Well we definitely lead a kind of boring life or rut as we call it but it sure beats working...HA HA

Monday, July 5, 2010

The Fourth is over

Well the holiday is over and much food has been eaten and enjoyed...You know that all of us eat when ever there is even talk of a holiday or event coming up....Of course it doesn't take too much to make an event for most of us OLD people any more so you can take it from there...Some how I have slipped back in to playing pool almost every day again...Imagine that!!! At least this year I have air conditioned halls to play in, so it sure makes it more enjoyable....Well when ever I don't have to take Marilyn to Wal-Mart she is sure willing to get me out from under foot so she can clean house or just take a nap so every one wins in the end...

I just want everyone to know that with the rain from the storm (ALEX) we are blessed with a bumper crop of mosquitoes so it's kind of hard to do any thing out doors with out swatting the little buggers all the time...So count your blessings if you don't have to put up with them where ever you are ....If you have them I know just how you feel....More later...

We Survived the Storm

Well the storm is over and past us about a hundred miles south in Mexico...I am so glad that it missed us cause I didn't want Marilyn to tell me she told me we should get out of Dodge before it got here...I didn't want to go as we had just gotten home and was too tired to travel any more....We did get a lot of rain (about 6 inches worth) during the day and night, but hardly any wind, at least here at the house....It would rain like cats and dogs for a little bit and then just let up and the sun would come out for a while and then do it again...Kind of crazy as just as you got out to look around it would start to rain and get you wet before you could get back to the house...At least nothing was tore up....

I made a trip over to Magnolia and drove through on every street and didn't see any damage, just several small LAKES that I drove threw...So all the folks up NORTH can breathe easy about their homes down here....We are sup post to have more showers on and off for the next few days, but we don't need the rain as we have plenty of it now....Well more later...

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

We got back just in time????

Well we just got back from up NORTH visiting the kids and grand kids just in time to head off a storm named ALEX...Marilyn was a little nervous about the storm, but I told her that she shouldn't worry as I wasn't going to let it come too close to the valley....It looks like I got my way as they said tonight on the news that it should hit south of the valley in Mexico...I really don't know just how I pulled it off but I have dodged the bullet so to speak and made Marilyn happy any way....I will write more on the results of the Storm later when it is all past tense...HA HA

We sure had a good time up seeing the kids, saw lots of people and made the rounds of various places we needed to see and visit...We managed to see a lot of baseball games that the grand kids played in...That was a joy to experience...It's always fun to see young kids play ball and compete with other schools...Well I am going to stop here for now and will continue in a day or so with some more news....I told you I would start again when we got back didn't I....

Suprise, Suprise

Well I guess you thought I wasn't going to write on here any more, but you were wrong...I did get a little note a week or so ago about not writing from a good friend...(D.S.) I know that I had slacked off, but some of the thoughts that I have had over the last couple of months, I didn't really want to share so I just kept them to myself...As it has turned out every thing has come out good or even great so I will start to writing again just so you know that I am still thinking so to speak....HA HA...

The one thing that is going on for us is we are getting ready to go up NORTH for a little while to see the kids and grand kids....You know that we all have to do that once in while just to keep prospective of life....We are leaving Sunday morning and we don't know just how long we will be gone, just have to play it by ear so to speak....Where we go there isn't too many places to hookup to Internet to check in, so don't know if I will be on line much if any...At least just know that when we get back I will be up and running again...

Please say a prayer for us on the road....God Bless All...

At the end of the Week

I don't know just where the last week has gone, I just know it was busy for me...Last Monday we completed all the paper work for the sale of the mobile at Magnolia so that's a job done and over...Monday afternoon I played 9 ball for the last time with the various parks for the season...Tuesday afternoon was the last time for in park 8 ball...Wednesday morning was the last day for 8 ball league on Wednesday...Thursday I went up and visited the last day for the Thursday afternoon 8 ball league...I got to see all the old gang and visit...Friday afternoon was the last day for in park 9 ball at Siesta...

Just remember that in between playing pool I also had to make sure that I took Marilyn to Walmart at least a couple of times, so it's been busy....Saturday morning we had breakfast up at the hall at Siesta..It was the last big breakfast and it sure was crowded...Was very good though(biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs)...

Just goes to show that life is good just don't give up....

Suprise I'm Trying to have some Thoughts!!!!

I know it's been a long time since I have put any thing down in the blog, but it seems that I haven't had time to have much thoughts worth putting down...We have been busy doing one thing or the other and time just gets away...As everyone knows down here February seems to be the busiest time of the season for some reason...I know that between going to the Dr. for blood work and doing some regular check ups, playing pool and taking Marilyn to WALMART the time has just flown by...Even on Sunday when it should be kind of slow down time it just flies by....Of course we are still going to Church on Sunday morning, then off to Martha's for breakfast with the usual bunch of friends that we have reserved tables with....It's nice to get together and laugh and listen to all the NEWS...

Friday the couple that bought our mobile came in from up NORTH and took possession...Monday we are going to go and get the papers all notarised to be final...I know that they will be happy in their new place...I am sure they will want to change some things, just as we have changed some things in our new place...It just seems strange not to own something at Magnolia, but we will always have great friends at Magnolia and remain part of the Magnolia Family....

A Great Sunday

What better way to start the week but go to Church and hear the word of GOD being taught...The congregation at Magnolia Park is slowly growing again with the addition of new folks coming in for the great weather here in "Deep South Texas"....The attendance today was 92 to hear Pastor Stacey preach the word of GOD....The theme today was on "Women and the persistence of faith"...It's good to hear and realize that sometimes it pays to be stubborn and be persistent in stating your wants and needs in life...Just never give up in praying for there is always benefits for all who do...

After the service there was coffee and cake to wish Pastor Stacey's son (Eddie) GOD speed, as he is going into the service to serve our country...We all need to pray for all our service men and women that are protecting our country for us...GOD BLESS THEM ALL !!!

Busy Week

Well we have been busy this week doing one thing or the other....I have been playing pool of course in a couple of leagues and at our park during regular play days...Nine ball league on Monday afternoon, 8 ball in the park on Tuesday afternoons, 8 ball in the league on Wednesday morning, and nine ball in the park on Friday afternoon...Of course we have to practice a few nights for a couple of hours just to keep in shape so to speak..HA HA It's a tough life for the old fat boy...

Last Monday the park model was sold and moved out of the park...We were sad to see it go out of the park but we needed to get rid of it...We have had a couple of calls on the mobile and showed it a couple of times...This morning we showed it to a couple for the second time and they said that they wanted it and consider it sold...We are going to draw up some papers Monday morning and receive the down payment....We have come to terms that are agreeable to all concerned so I would say it's a done deal....I know that they and us will be happy with everything...We are kind of sad to sell and leave the park but we must do what we need to do...Till next time keep the faith....

Update

Well the carpet is in the mobile and looking good without a hitch....We managed to do the final cleaning and I put the FOR SALE sign in front under the window so we are ready to show it when some one calls for it....On Saturday we managed to sell the park model and I have to go over in the morning (Monday) to sign the title over and collect the payment for the sale...We didn't get the asking price but the time was getting close to rent time and we wanted to get things over with...I did keep the small shed and will move it over to the new house in Siesta later in the week..I called Hector and he is going to move it for me...Gene says that we did need some more room to store some things that are in the way now in the sheds that we have, so every thing is going to work out great....

We were able to go to Church at Magnolia this morning for the first time in quite a while and we sure missed it....It was great to see all the people again and to hear the word of GOD being preached and taught....The lesson was on "The Women of The Bible" and was a great lesson....We just don't realize just how important the women we have around us are to help us keep on the path that GOD wants for us....We just need to listen and heed the direction we need to go...There was a good number in Church (72) so the word was spread to many...Remember to always take GOD with you no matter where you go......GOD BLESS ALL

How mixed up can things get???

I don't know just how the weirdest things happen to me...I was setting in the Dr.'s office talking to him about my toe nail problem and high blood pressure when I get three phone calls on the cell one right after the other...It seems the carpet layers showed up at the Siesta house to lay carpet instead of the Magnolia house...I told them they never called me to confirm the time or any thing for sure...They said that it was going to cost me 175 dollars to have them come back...Was I ever HOT about that....After I got out of the Dr.'s I went to Home Depot and tried to get to the bottom of the problem...After I explained just what happened and that I wasn't going to pay any thing more the manager of the store did some calls and got things straighted out...I really don't know just where the mix up was for sure, but he assured me that every thing would be taken care of with no cost to me...Now they are coming out Thursday afternoon to lay the carpet....I told him to make sure they came to Magnolia to do the job instead of Siesta....He assured me they would call me 30 minutes before they would be there to do the job...That way I can stay at home and not have to just wait around on them and be able to leave Siesta and get there at Magnolia when they came in...Oh what a tangled web life is at times....I guess that's what makes life interesting and keeps you thinking...

Yikkes Where has the time gone???

I was reminded today that I haven't posted in quite a while by a good friend...(D.S.) and why wasn't I posting?? I guess that I don't have any good excuses but just busy and lazy is all I can say...I will try to do better in the future...I know that I have said that before but maybe I can make it stick this time...

A lot has happened since I did post and I will try to bring some of it forward for the blog...The new year has started and promises to be quite a bit different than last year...I guess you might call that progress in some areas, we can just hope...Between working over at the houses at Magnolia and trying to get them ready to put on the market, trying to put some order in place at the house in Siesta ( Marilyn has done most of it and I just try to stay out of the way unless she prods me in some direction she needs me in.), and playing pool several days a week the time has just flown by before you know it...

One bad thing happened to me last Saturday when Gene and I were at Magnolia to work on the house as we were moving furniture, the couch slid over my foot and tore the toe nail loose on my left big toe...OH MY did that ever hurt...I couldn't do any thing for a while but try to stop the bleeding and pain...When we got home, Marilyn said let's go to the Emergency at the hospital to get it taken care of...So off we go...I will say that was quite an experience, but they did a great job taking care of the old fat boy...It is sore for sure but time will take care of it now...

Well that's enough for now, but I will try to do better....I have a Dr.'s appointment tomorrow morning to follow up on the toe and then the installers are suppose to lay new carpet in the mobile at Magnolia...It seems that there is always something going on, or something to do..OH WELL...
