Where Does the Time Go???

It seems just like yesterday that I posted on the blog, but when I look at it and see that it has been several days it doesn't seem possible...Oh well to catch up we haven't done too much other than we have done mostly the same things we have all summer...I shoot pool every other day of so and take Marilyn to Wal-mart whenever she wants to go...What a life we lead...We could say that we are in a rut, but we sure enjoy it just the same...I have attended the business meeting for the park last Monday, attended pot luck up at the hall (also Monday)...We went to Golden Corral Thursday for late lunch with several people from the park and it was sure good...I forgot to write that I had a place redone here at the house for Marilyn's alligator pond...I'll try to get a picture of it in a day or so to put in here...Also we had a new awning put on one side in front of the Texas Room and new concrete drive poured under it to the road....I'll get a picture of that also later....Right now it is raining and has on and off for the last day or so...I guess we need it anyway...Nothing very hard, just a nice rain...Maybe it will cool the temperature down some ...Oh well life's good anyway.....

Great Weekend

Well the last few days have been great not just the weekend...I got to play pool both Thursday and Friday afternoon....I took Marilyn to Wal=mart on Friday morning so she was happy....Saturday afternoon I got to go bird hunting and got in some great shooting fun...I didn't hit every one but had fun at every shot...Sunday morning we went to Church Service at Magnolia (which was very good) then on to breakfast where we met Jim and Margret Vargason....We even made a side trip to Wal-mart for a couple of items that we had forgotten Friday....In the afternoon I got a call from my hunting buddy, so we were off again to the fields to pursue the fast fliers again....We managed to fill our limits again and were home by 6;30...That's two days we have done very well...I guess it will be awhile before we will be able to go again as my hunting buddy will go to his deer lease next weekend to check on things there...Oh well I don't blame him...That will give me time to round up some more shells for the next trip...HA HA So all in all it's been a good week, what more can you ask...

Still Here and OK

Just thought I would bring this up to speed...HA HA..Well we had a great meal on Labor Day and the hall...The food was good and so was the company...I know that everyone was full as they wanted to be and of course food was left over to take home....I know that everyone has heard of the Storm that came through the Valley...Most of the ones that have called wanted to know if we were either flooded out or had wind damage...Well for your information WE didn't have either here in Siesta Village....Just a little wind with no damage and only about 1 and 1/2 inches of rain that was needed...The grass was starting to get brown in spots...East of Harligen on to the coast they did get lots of rain 8 or 9 inches and some flooding in areas...Well it seems to be all past us now with just a few lingering showers with some hot dry weather in the forecast...Oh happy days...At least I have gotten to play pool the last couple of days for a couple of hours each...Marilyn has gotten to make her Wal-mart tour so every one is happy...Today we went up and listened to Diego at the hall...We sure enjoy listening to him play and sing....The crowd was a little smaller today for some reason, but that will soon change so more of the NORTHERN bunch comes in...A few of them have come in the last couple of days and getting set for the new season...Keep Smiling...

Here it is Sunday already

My I don't see how the time gets away from us so easily...It seems like just yesterday that I wrote on the blog....We have been kind of busy(although we haven't done much really)....Jim Vargason has been in the hospital since last Monday night and I managed to get up and see him and have several calls to him to cheer him up...He got out Friday night and is home now so things will be better for him and settle down a little bit....Of course we had to go to Wal-mart a couple of times to see if they had moved any thing... HA HA..I kind of wanted to go bird hunting this weekend but the guys that I go with must have had other plans as I didn't hear from them...Oh well that's the way things go sometime....At least this morning Church started over at Magnolia Park again for the season...I am so glad of that as we sure missed going over the summer....It was a small group but sometimes that is good as you get to visit afterward and catch up on things from the summer...Tomorrow we are having a pot luck here at Siesta for the residents with Brock's and hamburgers...Every one brings a dish and shares with the group....I know that it will be fun...We are still learning peoples names and putting faces to the names....It will soon be a lot harder as more of the people come in from up NORTH for the season....Oh well it's all in fun anyway.....

Playing Catch Up

I was just thinking today that I should take some time and catch up on the blog as it has been quite a while since I wrote in it....Tonight when I checked the E-mail I get a note jogging me about not writing on the blog from a good friend (D.S.)....So I checked and it has been too long for sure...I don't know how the time goes so quickly...I guess because we have kind of been busy as our youngest son has been down and visiting us for a couple of weeks...He had a chance to come down and hitched a ride with our grandson that lives in Temple, Tx. when he went up to Iowa for a class reunion....He came back to Temple with him and we went up there and picked him up and brought him on down here....We have had a great time showing him around the area....

I know that once in a while he must have gotten bored being around a bunch of OLD people and some of the crazy things we do...He did enjoy the cement pond up at the hall and we got to play some pool of course...He had to go to WAL-MART with his mother and see some of the eating out places in the valley....Of course we had to go to the Island to walk the beach looking for shells and such, stop at one of our favorite fish houses and pig out on fish before we came home....So it has been fun....I think we were all tired when we took him to the plane to go home yesterday...He called and said he made it home safe and sound so we could relax at last...You never know any more with these planes and travel in general...

I did get a telephone call from Don Soole the other day saying that church was going to start over at Magnolia Park next Sunday morning so we are looking forward to that...I am just kind of also looking for or hoping for some cooler weather, but the time is coming just be patient and it will be here before you know it....I will try to do better from now on writing for the blog....

Here again

I can't believe that it's been a week since I wrote on the blog....Time just has a way of getting away from me especially it seems....We have been enjoying ourselves by little tours checking on the high water a couple of times, going to Wal-mart, trying different places to eat out, and Wednesday we enjoyed listening to Diego up at the hall here at Siesta...He comes about every two weeks and plays and sings for a couple of hours for all to enjoy dancing or just listening to...He still has quite a crowd even if it is summer yet...Of course I get to play pool every day or so some where so it's all good here, just kind of hot...The heat isn't as bad as the mosquitoes and nats....The little boogers just swarm on you every chance they can when you get out of the house or car...I hope they start spraying soon to kill them off...Well that about catches things up for now....Remember to just keep smiling and every thing will be OK....

Deep South Texas

Well when they say that Deep South Texas is a whole different country they mean it for sure...Usually this time of year we are dry, praying for rain and cool temperatures, but this year we have had several periods of rain... The Rio Grande River is running full and overflowing even filling the overflow waterways....The poor souls that built in the flood zones are flooded out and wondering "What happened?".....The temperature has been in the low 90's or high 80's everyday....I have been watching the up NORTH temps and they are seeming to be higher than down here ----At least for now....

At least the Loring life goes on with pool playing and trips to Wal-mart...Of course the several trips out to different places to eat out and just to enjoy living....How great is life when you and people around you are happy....Later...
