Ehd of the Winter Season

I can't believe that the end of the season is here already and things are winding down and people are heading NORTH for the summer....Many have left already and some I didn't even get to see to tell them good bye and have a safe summer....It seems that all winter I have so much going on, I don't have time or forget to put any thing on the Blog and when the season is over, there is nothing going on to report on...I guess there is no way I can win in trying to keep a blog going, but I will put something on when I have an event....I know that I have one or two that check once in a while so to satisfy them and let them know that I'm still alive and Marilyn is still visiting Walmart....LOL....Any body reading this please have a great summer and be safe.....God Bless you all....

Weather Check

I am tired of this weather being up and down every few days and am looking forward to some nice weather from here on out....I guess I will keep my fingers crossed about that , but I think that would bother my pool shooting some what so like everyone else , I will just take what comes...I haven't gotten out much except to play pool and take Marilyn to Walmart or  to HEB.....Exciting heh.... Oh Well at least the last Dr. visit last week he did tell me not to come back for 6 months.....HOORAY for that....I have also being trying to lose some weight and having SOME success, but it sure comes off slower and harder than it went on...HA HA..Well the pool leagues will be winding up at the end of this month so that means some things will be slowing down and I can get some things done around the house that I have been neglecting......Tomorrow I have to go to Magic Valley and be a referee for the Olympics men's pool....I usually go to watch them anyway, so at least I will have a purpose for being there....I would like to go over and watch the women play at Victoria Park but will have to see when I get off duty first...That's about it for now...Later...

Flying Time

The title is just what it says, oh how the time is flying bye...I didn't realize how long it had been since I had put any thing on here....There is so much going on with pool leagues and taking Marilyn to Walmart and HEB....I have even started to play shuffleboard on Wednesday nights here at Siesta....They have a game called horse collar that is a fun game and I kind of enjoy it, so that's another night away from home for a couple of hours....I guess I need to take advantage of all this while I can , cause when all the northern people go home, I will only have pool for a coupe of nights a week and a lot more Walmart....HA HA...Oh well I don't care just as long as we are having some fun along the way....Well at least I put something on here so the one or two people that read this will have something to read and not get on me for not writing....LOL....Till next time.....Keep safe and keep smiling....

Are we up north?

I just can't get over how cold it is here in deep south Texas this early....Usually we have a couple of weeks late in January that we call winter and then it warms up and back to normal....Not this year it seems to have been cold or at least very cool for the last couple of months....I don't know what is happening to this weather all over the country...Oh well I guess we just have to grin and bare it as there is nothing we can do about it but complain, but then we always seem to have something to complain about one way or the other....Oh the joys of getting OLD...HA HA......

Well the busy season is here with all the pool leagues and other activities that are going on...I guess we need to enjoy them all while they are here to enjoy....I mean we have to make hay while the grass is green in other words...It sure is nice to be able to see all the old friends that are down here in deep south Texas for the winter season, cause we won't get to see them in the summer and we miss them for at least 6 months or more unless we get pictures or keep in touch on Facebook or email....Oh well I'm trying to put something on here once in a while to let a few people know I'm still here...More later...

Yes I'm still alive

Well the other night I was let known that I hadn't written any thing on this blog for ever....I said that nothing has happened in my boring life to put down and also I didn't think anyone read the blog anyway...I was informed that there was some that checked just to see if I had put anything down...So I will try to put something down for those that do check....The holidays are upon us in a big way....Christmas is just over and here comes the New Year....I do know that this is the worst time of the year to go any place in a car as the streets are so crowded and the stores are a fright......BUT we still have to go and make sure to let them know we are still OK  because if we don't they will send out a search party to see what has happened to us....Well whoever reads this keep safe and have a Happy New Year....Till next time....

Summer Time

I think that summer time is here for sure.....I don't understand how so many people still think that they have to leave here to travel up north to wade in snow or slide on the ice....I would just as soon stay here and run the air-conditioner and be able to go outside without a coat as go up and run the heater and wear a coat every where outside....I realize that sometimes things come up that a person must do or some of the family is sick or something, but this is just how people are always looking for the bright side of things or should I say the warm side.....

Well some things never change even in the summer or winter....We all have to make a certain number of trips each week to Wal-Mart or to HEB to seem to be able to survive...HA HA....At least the roads aren't crowded and the stores aren't either....One bad thing is pool slows down as so much I have to go to other parks and play....It's the same at most of them and we just get together to have enough to play.....It's kind of nice to have no pressure and just have fun....At the end of the night we usually can't tell who won the most games and it doesn't make any difference any way....Well Marilyn and I are doing OK and just getting older together ....That's just the way it should be anyway.....Later...

Yes I'm still here

I know that I haven't put any thing on the blog for a long time and the only thing I can say or blame it on is January and February are my busiest time of the year....The last couple of weeks I have just kind of sat back and relaxed and not done much at all....It's kind of nice not to have a schedule to keep up with....Pool leagues have all been done and some schedules have been made for next season while things are fresh in my mind....The only some what planed activity if you could call it that is I have to make a certain number of trips to Wal-mart and I never know just when one might come along, but that's OK with me.....I do know that I am glad we don't HAVE to go up NORTH in the next few weeks as I keep hearing about the cold and SNOW that looks so good but I don't want to come in contact with....Well that's all for a while, but I'll really try to put something on more often now....Later....

Merry Christmas

I know I haven't written any thing for quite a while  but things are getting started for the season and I haven't taken time for the blog....No excuses just lazy I guess....Pool leagues have started and that has kept me busy with other things going on in the park....I am almost ready for the quite season to be here ....I know that is surely a sign of getting old....Most of the time my mind says do this or that , but my body says "no way Jose" .....Oh well I am happy doing what I can and let it go at that.....I want to wish both of my readers Merry Christmas and Happy New Year....This last year has been a good one I feel and am looking forward to the next one smiling....Later....

This weather is super

Oh if it could only stay like this all year round this would almost be the "perfect place"...I say that cause there is no perfect place all the time....HA HA...Well more people have come in here in Siesta, but in other parks they seem to be coming in very slowly...I don't know just what the problem is, I have heard that it is very cold up north so that isn't the answer....I don't know if they have heard of the border wars over in Mexico or what .....If you must know not much of that affects us as we don't go to Mexico and Walmart and the restaurants are as violent as we get... HA HA...Other than the usual not much is going on....I kind of like that as I can do just only what I want to and no more...What more can I ask....Later...

Oh Boy

I don't know about you but I am still kind of full from Thanksgiving, but some how I am still able to eat....HA HA...In all seriousness we had a great Thanksgiving with more food than any one should have....We were with Jerry and Diane , Don and Sally , Darlene and Phil, and Margrett V. for the day.... Well more people are coming in for the winter and it is getting busy around here again, at least crowded on the highway and in Walmart...It's harder to find a parking spot close to the door any more...HA HA..There are several friends that haven't made it down here yet and I don't know just what is keeping them up north as I keep seeing that it is cold up there...Well not much else to say , but wanted to at least put something down on here...I don't know if anyone still reads this but if they do HI  I'm still here and mostly well for an old fat boy...At least I'm happy....Later...

Thanksgiving coming up..

Golly it hardly seems possible that thanksgiving is just around the corner, but here it is...I have much to be thankful for this year....I didn't have as much health issues as I did last year so that is a big plus and I have got to celebrate another birthday....HA HA...The only bad thing is I keep getting OLDER in body and it doesn't want to do some of the stuff that I use to do....Oh well I am glad for the things I am able to do...I am very blessed compared to a lot of people in the world...God is so good to me and my family and I thank him for all he has done and doing for me...

I got the new computer and finally am getting things straighten out....I told some one that the Texas room looks like "Best Buy store exploded" and the remains are all over the place.....Oh well I am working on it a little at a time and am making progress as Marilyn said "well at least we can see the floor now"....I am glad that she is patient with my doings....I know that it is going to cost me several trips to Walmart for all the mess, but that's alright it's some place to get out of the house for a while....Well I'm looking forward to thanksgiving and hope everyone else is too.....Keep smiling....Later..

Time is flying by

I can't believe that a week has gone by since I wrote on the blog, but when I post on the Magnolia blog for  Sunday service it reminds me of the time....Well this week we kind of kept busy between greeting back folks from the far north back to the village, going to Walmart, eating out a couple of times and playing some pool, the time slipped away...

Well the old computer has been acting up a little so I have order a new one and should get it some time in the next week....I don't look forward to setting up a new one cause when I do I like to take my time reinstalling my programs.....When I do get the new one set up I am going to complety wipe the hard drive on the old one and reinstall the operating system and some of the programs.....I just hate to try and rearrange all my files that I need to back up so I can reinstall them....There is always some I seem to lose.....I have done it several times before and I dread it and do learn from each screw up....HA HA   ..Of course by the time I have to do it again I forget something until to  late and lose something again....Oh well ....what else have I to do....Keep smiling ....Later....

Well the summer is over it seems

Well I guess I have goofed off long enough and haven't put any thing on the blog for a long time...I really haven't had any thing exciting to put down and didn't want to bore any one with just trips to Wal-mart and going out to eat...And believe me we did PLENTY of just that...Oh well what else have we to do.....We did go up north to see our kids, grand kids and greatgrandkids for a while....I didn't want to put that on the blog at the time but we had a great time seeing almost everyone....We only missed two grand kids in the visit so that's not too bad....We got to visit our parents grave sites for the first time in a couple of years so that was nice....The only thing bad was it was so hot that we were glad to get back to Texas to cool off....We like to have burnt up coming across Kansas coming home...I was sure glad the car had air-conditioning and that we didn't have any trouble at all...

Well I am going to try and put a few things on the blog more often now that the new season has started, but am not going to promise to a set pattern...There is still not much happening yet ....At least one good thing.....We are in pretty good shape for OLD people and we're quite happy with life....Later....

All most the end of the month

Here it is almost the end of the month and I am just getting around to posting something here again....I told you that not much exciting was happening last posting, so don't want to bore anyone with the same old stuff, but here goes....A couple of weeks ago Marilyn pulled some muscles in her back moving some furniture ( which she shouldn't have done anyway ) and she has been trying to get over the soreness....She sure has had to watch just how she moves and not try to twist her back or it just pulls it again....At least she is doing better now....It has kind of slowed up the Walmart tours a little bit, but she has been using the motorised carts to get around in the store....I told her that was what they were for, at times like this we are just thankful that they are there for us to use....I know that last year before I had my knees replaced I used them and was glad there were there....On another note as Church services aren't being held at Magnolia, we have been going to  Donna at Pastor Stacey's Church ( First Baptist Church of Donna )....It sure seems different to go at 11 o'clock instead of at 8:45....Also there is a lot of new people for us to see....The service and the lessons are still great, but we miss going to Magnolia....Well this weekend we need to give thanks and honor to the brave men and women who have served in the military.....Many lives have been lost fighting for the freedom that we sometimes take for granted....God Bless all the men and women who have and are serving our country....

I have been having a little trouble at times with the Internet hookup and have been trying to get it figured out just what the problem was....Come to find out my old wireless router was becoming intermittent and was dropping the signal.....I did get a new one, installed it, rebooted the cable modem and problem solved.....I them tried to hookup my wii's on the TVs so we could watch netflix, but they wouldn't hookup.....I finally picked up a new ROKU system and installed it on one TV.....I even had a little trouble getting it to connect, but finally did.....It works great and has a lot of different channels that the Wii doesn't .....I kept working with the wii's and then I got them working also, so I have a great selection to work with now....HA HA ....I know....I know ...OLD MEN and their TOYS, but at least it keeps me out of a lot of other trouble....Well that's enough for now, till  next time....Keep safe and healthy.....

How can I be this busy??

I just realized as I was doing the Magnolia Blog that I hadn't written any thing on my own blog for a couple of weeks....I will try to catch you up on some of the going's on....Although nothing to exciting for most to hear, but anyway....A couple of weeks ago we did have some stormy weather in the valley but nothing happened here.....I didn't go at night to play pool in other parks as I didn't want to leave Marilyn here if it was storming....Luckily for me that wasn't often....Last weekend Marilyn and I went up to Temple , Texas to visit our grandson, his wife and our greatgranddaughters.....The youngest celebrated her first birthday and we got to be in on it.....She has grown quite a bit since we saw her last fall.....What a joy to be able to spend time with the grand kids, but at our age it's hard to keep up with them....HA HA...This week between resting up from the trip, playing pool here in the park and over at another park a coupe of nights , taking Marilyn on Wal-Mart tours and eating out  a couple of times nothing much else has happened....HA HA...Oh well I didn't say it wouldn't be boring, just busy....Later....I just hope my one reader hasn't given up on me...( DS)...

Where is the Time going??

It seems like only yesterday that I posted on the blog, but I saw that it was Sunday....Oh well not much has been happening other than I have played a little pool over at another park on Tuesday nite for  couple of hours and at our park on one afternoon....Of course there has been a Wal-mart tour or two so things are on track....Marilyn went with some of the girls in the park this morning out for breakfast...I have been after her to go with them, but she doesn't like to eat breakfast very early in the morning so she has been putting them off until today....She came home and said that she had a good time so maybe it will become a weekly thing now....At least that gives her time out of the house and some girl time....Another good thing is she is feeling a little better and is getting over her pulled muscles in her back....I am sure glad of that as I don't like to see her hurting and not sleeping well...I guess it just takes time so they say....I am going to try to get a couple of guys tomorrow afternoon to get a pool game up here in the park and it that doesn't work I will go to another park tomorrow nite for a couple of hours...It's tough when everyone up and leaves to go up NORTH and not many to play with...Boo Hoo....Well enough complaining  so will stop for now.....Later...

I'm Still Here

I know that I haven't posted any thing for quite a while and I'm sorry to any of you that have checked my blog to see if I was still around.....Now that the season is slowing down and I will have some time to write on this blog more of the little things that are going on in the Loring homestead at Siesta Village....Well one thing pool has slowed down a lot so that leaves me to look for something else to do...As you know Marilyn is always ready to make a Wal-Mart tour so that if they move something around she will be able to find it easily....HA HA...I know I am just as bad as I keep up on just where the man toys are displayed so I can't talk to much about some one else....I have started to learn to play shuffling with the summer crowd on Saturday evening, so that is something different for me....I kind of like it so far, but I have a long way to go before I even know what I am trying to do...In time I suppose it will come....The people I play with are very good about showing me some things....Of course they are beating me badly while they are doing it, but that's the way you learn as long as you can take it in fun...Well this is a start again and I know I have said this before , but I will try to do better in blogging...As ever till next time....

OK I get the message

Today I was reminded that I hadn't put any thing on this blog for quite a while so here goes....We had a great Christmas and a good new year....Heard from all the kids during the holidays and that was our greatest present that they could have given us....I have been playing pool a little more now that the new year has started so that makes me happy....I haven't been shooting very well and seem to be in a rut and can't get out of it, but that will turn around if I just keep up the effort....The old knees seem to be working out for me as I can do some walking around the pool table and taking Marilyn to Wal-mart so that is on track for me....I know that we are both thinking about just what we are going to do this summer....I know that we are looking forward to doing some traveling....We weren't able to last summer as I was trying to get clearance for surgery and then the knee replacements and rehab....That all just shot any traveling that we might have done....Oh well things are looking better now....Well I will get off here for now, but I will try to do better on writing from now on....I know that I have said that in the past but I have been assured that more than one person is reading this....HA HA...Till next time.....

Still here!!!!!

Well the kids have been gone home for a few days and life around here is slowly getting back to normal.....I have been able to play pool several times here in the park and also over at Magnolia a couple of times a week at night....I have been kind of disappointed that we don't have much if any pool action here at Siesta at night....I am use to playing in the evening from Magnolia and just can't get use to not playing every night for a couple of hours......Oh well I guess we can't always have every thing we want all the time, but I just can't figure out why not.....HA HA

Well I know that this cool weather isn't the best thing for my new knees as they are sure stiff unless I keep them moving.....I guess that's the secret to the whole process but I am not use to that any more....I am kind of proud of myself as when I take Marilyn to Wal-Mart I don't use the electric carts and do all the walking around the store without any cane or walker.....I do push one of the shopping carts as I do pick up some stuff once in a while so I'm doing very well....It's only been less than 4 months since the first knee surgery and 7 weeks since the last one....Things are getting better all the time and they told me it would take quite some time before things would seem to be normal for me....I am just looking forward to seeing all the old friends coming back from up NORTH and spending some time talking to all them about just what they have been doing....Most of them already know just what I have been doing and most of that is quite boring...HA HA....Till next time....

Late again

I know I said that I would post more often but I have been trying to catch up on some things that I haven't been able to do because of the surgeries.....Also we have had company for a while and we have been trying to entertain them...(our youngest son and his girlfriend)...They came to help drive Marilyn around while I was layed up with the last surgery......They have been a big help around the house...This last week I got to play pool several times  here in the park and even over at Magnolia a coupe of times...It was sure nice to get around a table again, but I sure need lots of practice to come close to being able to compete again.....Oh well now I will have time to do lots of things and my knees won't hurt at least....They are still stiff and I have to limber them up quite often, but they say in time that will change....Well at least I have written something so you know that I am OK, just lazy about writing....Next time......
